SureScale is a tech startup building a Saas tool to create business proposals powered by AI
I got hired as a Lead Product Designer for the SureScale team to redesign a Saas tool to incorporate an agent to improve the digital experience, to create business proposals on demand
My role includes research, benchmarking, competitive analysis, interviews, user journeys, dialogs, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes to validate the opportunities to improve the existing Saas tool using an agent for an MVP pilot based on customer feedback and expertise knowledge.
The ZYM tools team hired me to collaborate with the Development and Product Teams to lead the implementation of an agent specialized in business proposals. I used my regular stack of tools to manage this project, providing daily status to the stakeholders and reviewing the updates with the AI and Dev teams.
I used Figjam to share daily standup sessions to review the flows and updates to the UX/UI. I also used Figma to create quick lo-fi wireframes and hi-fidelity prototypes. The team used Teams to manage the communication and production work. I used NotebookLM to do research and analysis during the design phase. And Adobe Cloud to create assets for the landing page to promote the new experience.
As part of the design process, I did research and benchmarking for best practices for agentic patterns in Saas tools. My previous work at Salesforce implementing an agent helped me to speed up the design process by applying the same principles for this new project. I continued to get inspiration from Microsoft's Copilot implementation to validate best practices for interaction on flows, navigation, responses, suggested actions, and more features, but also, since I frequently use NotebookLM, I was able to use a similar framework to redesign this tool.
After the initial calls with the team and demo the product I understood better the capabilities of the business proposal builder tool and I started my design process.
During the initial call, I was able to sketch some ideas to translate to digital
I shared the first concept of the User Experience and the new User Interface with the team to get early feedback and validate tech feasibility
I had the opportunity to work with 1 Product Owner (USA/CR) and 4 full-stack developers, and 2 AI specialists who validated the expected product. We all worked on this fast-paced project together to build an MVP in 4 weeks from initial research to final prototypes. Thanks to the iterations, we ended up with a 2-column tool instead of a 3-column tool from the initial designs.
I did a couple of sessions with the Language Model Specialists to understand the development framework and support from a design perspective. The first step was to validate the expected inputs (sources or messages) and outputs (responses and formatted documents), and to create dialogs for the different scenarios. We identified 3 scenarios: 1) When the user uploads a source file, 2) When the user writes a prompt, and 3) When the user clicks the "suggested" action from the chat
One of the challenges when designing an Agent is to define the input/output early in the process with the help of "dialogs" for specific scenarios
The SureScale team did not have a Design System in place for me to use with the Proposal Builder Agent project. I used material design components and their brand guidelines to align the visual aspect of the project. Also, I was able to create some new assets for the promotional landing page.
The new promotional landing page is the starting point of the digital experience
